information about the comic and the authors
History of Karaoke
Karaoke began from a simple idea. Make a comic containing some of our
favorite anime characters in different settings and interactions between other casts. We
accomplished this by using characters from Trigun, Rurouni Kenshin, and Cowboy Bebop in a
45+ comic story arc which ended in early July 2001. It was then decided by both Jon and
Justin to begin a new idea...
The new comic began 2 weeks after
the formal announcement of the end of the strip. The new comic would cover the exploits
and interaction of characters in and outside of the local coffee shop. Beginning from
scratch, this comic has now continued with the title of Karaoke as well. The cafe, aptly
named the Karaoke Cafe is run and frequented by the main characters of the comic. Karaoke
(version 2.0 as Justin refers to it) began on August 1, 2001.
Who are the Authors?
The authors of Karaoke are two high school students with far too much free
time on their hands. Both are thoroughly obsessed with anime, manga, and video games. This
can be painfully obvious in virtually all of the comics they make.
Jon McGovern - Artist
Jon is the artist of Karaoke, without him the comic doesn't really get done.
He takes care of all the sketching, artwork, and character designs.
Justin Morton - Writer
Justin may not draw it, but without him Jon has nothing to draw, despite
what Jon may think. Justin writes and details the scripts for all of the comics as well as
edits and completes them to be posted on the net. Justin also colors most of the CGed
images and sketches Jon draws.
